You're IT Whip Salon!

Three questions with Amy Pal, owner of Whip Salon.

Why did you start your business?

We originally opened Whip Salon in Ridgefield in 2016. Our clients loved our concept of offering beauty services with an exceptional focus on customer service and ease of booking. We know convenience is so important so unlike other salons, we are open 7 days a week. When we felt confident enough to expand, we targeted Westport, and in particular Bedford Square, because it was the perfect location for a luxury beauty salon. Several of our stylists had previously worked in Westport so it was a no-brainer to open a second location and reconnect. At the foundation of it all is our super-star talent Chris Gaglione, General Manager and one of the most sought after hair cutting specialists around, Suzanne Baumann, Head Colorist and Shay MacInnis, Expert Haircutter. We have been open for just over a year now and couldn't be happier to be in Westport!

Best selling service?

By far the most popular trend for color is balayage at Whip Salon. Balayage is a painted technique primarily for blonding, that creates a more blended look that can be customized upon consultation. Balayage is popular because it creates a ton of natural dimension in the hair and is very flattering on brunettes too. Check out the Whip Salon Instagram page to see all of our most popular hair trends of the moment and for fantastic inspiration too and you'll see why everyone likes to #getwhipped!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Local partnerships are a huge part of our success. We have partnered with so many from the very start in Bedford Square we were asked to create the hair and makeup looks for Anthroplogie's Spring Fashion show last year which was amazing right when we launched! Since then we have partnered with virtually every store in Bedford Square and beyond including Nic + Zoe, Williams Sonoma, Savannah Bee, Barbour and Amis. At Christmas time we banded together to offer valet parking and the "Great Santa Search." Currently, we have a fantastic promotion running for the entire month of March, anyone who comes into Whip Salon can bring their proof of service to our neighbor Wafu Asian Bistro which just opened up in Bedford Square and get $20 OFF your bill. Now that's a tasty deal!

Whip Salon is located at 14 Elm Street, 2nd Floor in Bedford Square in downtown Westport. It is open 7 days a week. You can book online at www.whipsalon.com, download the app or call 678-WHIPPED.
