Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

Three questions with Suzanne Vita Palazzo, Founder + CEO of Upper Deck Fitness.

You're IT Upper Deck Fitness!

Why did you start your business?

We formed UDF to fill an unmet need within the fitness community: To help people understand what workouts they need to be doing for their bodies in order to see results. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to working out, so people need to learn what works for THEIR bodies. Our Prescribed Fitness approach helps them determine that angle and ensures they know what it means to #worksmarter.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

Get people to understand that more is not always more when it comes to the intensity of a workout. Crawling out the door of the gym or not being able to move the next day is NOT indicative of progress. Quite the contrary. The body will respond best when it is given variety and proper opportunity for recovery.

What is your best selling product/service?

We have an exclusive workout format known as Badass and Beautiful (@badassandbeautiful_) that combines the mindfulness of yoga with the intensity of strength training. There’s literally nothing else like it out there and, perhaps most importantly, it works.

Very important to note that your first workout is always on us!
