Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Bugs and Blades!

Three questions with Chris Zinkel, owner of Bugs and Blades.

Bugs & Blades has a simple approach to our anti-tick, landscaping and deer abatement services. Be on time, be detailed, and protect every property like our own. We are an owner-run business guaranteeing you, the client, are completely satisfied.

Why did you start your business?

Tom O'Carmody and I are longtime Weston residents and also victims of Lyme Disease. Our shared experience with this very dangerous disease inspired the creation of this company. Our mission is to help our community feel safe from the threats of Lyme Disease, West Nile Virus, Spotted Fever and Zika, when they are out enjoying their property.

What is your best selling product/service?

Natural treatments for ticks. All products are kid-safe and pet-friendly.

How many people do you employ?

We are a small, upcoming company that has two owners/operator applicators, one office admin, and two interns.
