WS: How long have you been doing lashes and how did you first get into it?
Cathy: I have been doing lashes for over 10 years and it is truly my passion. I love creating looks for my clients and I choose from over 300 silk lashes to create a custom look that’s right for them. I got into it a bit by chance actually on a visit to my ophthalmologist! He had just launched a mini spa and offered me a discount on getting eyelash extensions. At that time I had no idea what it was so I investigated it further. Once I had my first set put on, I was hooked. I was so excited about its potential and immediately got certified. That was over 10 years ago and the trend is now stronger than ever.
WS: What is the number one question or concern you get from first-time clients?
Cathy: The main concern is always whether or not it will adversely affect a client’s existing lashes and the answer is no. Eyelash extensions that are professionally applied with safe medical grade materials and maintained as instructed will be just fine. That’s why it is so important to go to someone that knows what they are doing. I have had clients come to me that have gone to inexperienced technicians that use dodgy glue and that’s when things can go wrong. Always get the background on the person that you are going to. All the technicians at Whip Salon study under me first so I know they are all excellent.
WS: You are booked out weeks for your lashes, what do you think makes you so successful?
Cathy: My clients really love their lashes and tend to pre-book their next appointment before they leave. I really think it’s down to the fact that I consult with my clients to understand what kind of look they want. Plus the quality of my lashes, medical-grade glue and expert application translates to longevity for my lash applications. And of course, Whip Salon offers a consistently professional and welcoming atmosphere that my clients love too!
WS: What would you tell someone who has been considering getting lashes for the first time?
Cathy: Do your research on the lash artist you’re going to. Always start with a detailed consultation so that you feel comfortable. The beauty of lash extensions is that they are really a time saver so that you can wake up and go. My clients say they make them feel confident and beautiful, plus you can say bye-bye to applying mascara.
