Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Pilates for Every Body!

Three questions with Alison Bricken and Charlene Erwin, owners of Pilates for Every Body.

Why did you start your business?

We opened Pilates for Every Body in 2002 because we wanted to focus our attention on the health and fitness of women in our area. While Pilates is such a beneficial form of exercise for all, we decided to include programming for improving bone density and muscle mass into our offerings and offer several styles of Pilates training to address each individual's needs. One size does not fit all!

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. "I wish I could…"

I wish could...bring even more local residents into our studio to experience how Yamuna Body Rolling, which we offer in conjunction with Pilates, can help them to achieve body sustainability - which means to feel good one's body and reduce injury. It is a great add-on to the other forms of exercise we offer, or as a stand-alone.

What is your best selling product/service?

Since we are a Pilates studio, people contact us for that. Many come because they have experienced an injury or back pain. The individualized program we develop for each person is why the majority of our clients have been with us for years. As local residents and owners and instructors, we care about the health of our community, and we think that shines through.
