Three questions with Bankside Farms in Westport.
Why did you start your business?
In partnership with the Westport Inn, our team wanted to establish a restaurant to highlight the local history and celebrate the farms within the area. We chose our name, Bankside Farms, to connect with the community of Westport, which was originally established by the Bankside Farmers in 1648. Our goal is to continue the founder's legacy with our dedication to the local community while being environmentally friendly and sourcing local ingredients.
What is your best selling product/service?
Our signature menu item is our Bankside Burger! This delicious 8oz Angus beef burger is topped with caramelized onions, peppered bacon, cheddar cheese & black garlic aioli served on a toasted brioche bun. For special events and parties, we can even serve this specialty menu item as Bankside Sliders.
As a farm to table dining experience, we strive to support the local community in all aspects of our business. We have extensive partnerships with local food and produce vendors including Baldor (Bronx, NY) and Side Wainer (New Bedford, MA) who both source from local farms whenever possible. Our local partnerships extend farther than our food including our table succulents & décor from Terrain (Westport, CT) and Crate & Barrel (Westport, CT) as well as multiple vendors such as Bill’s Refrigeration (Stamford, CT).
