MoCA Westport Announces New 2-Week POD Learning Program

MoCA Westport's third quarter of its POD Learning Support/Art Enrichment Program will begin on January 25! To offer more flexibility to the community, MoCA will now offer the option to enroll children in two-week increments called "MoCA Learning Labs." This option differs from our POD structure in that instruction will be differentiated by grade within each 'Learning Lab' group, and ALL elementary grade levels (K-5) can participate in two consecutive weekly sessions.

MoCA Westport will also continue to offer applications for a full 9-week enrollment period with a 10% discount for those who pre-register prior to 1/24, with both two days/week and three days/week options available.

Students in the PODs have the opportunity to be fully supported while working on homework assignments, attending their online 'specials,' and will participate in supplemental activities that link the classroom curriculum to the arts utilizing a range of activities including: art analysis and interpretation, drawing, painting, poetry, and of course, utilizing our extraordinary exhibits to weave math, science, and social studies into the session. Hands-on art enrichment is also a substantial portion of each session. The student: teacher ratio is kept to a 6:2 maximum to allow for personalized attention and small group instruction.

The teachers are accredited and established, with experience in traditional classroom settings. Arts Education teachers are established art instructors who have been hand-picked for the program to ensure a depth and range of projects that create dialogue, build creativity, and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the arts.

MoCA Westport welcomes its AM pod and PM pod students either 2 or 3 days a week. No two MoCA pods or Learning Lab groups are alike as the approach is tailored to the individual needs of each student in the pod or lab.
