Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Eyes Up Wellness!

Three questions with Nadja Streiter, founder of Eyes Up Wellness.

Why did you start your business?

I founded Eyes Up Wellness to combine my interest in helping people improve their emotional well-being with my interest in how technology, especially digital technology and video gaming is affecting our lives - both in positive and negative ways. We feel the “techverse’s” effects at home with spouses and children being distracted and less available and in the workplace with reduced productivity and ever-increasing demands.

I have a passion for helping people and families who are already experiencing problems, as well as those who want to prevent problematic behaviors from occurring. Sometimes I say, “I treat digital illnesses - like video game addiction - but I love to teach digital wellness”! As a parent coach and therapist, I also work with anxiety and depression, relationship challenges. Not surprisingly all these things tend to go together and whether you need Eyes Up Wellness to improve your relationship with technology or to look towards a calmer and happier future, I want to help.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My best selling service is working with clients one on one but groups and consulting are also really popular. I do a lot of webinars and public speaking to raise awareness and educate as well. As for products, I co-created Game Quitter’s signature family program Reclaim, (learn about it here). Reclaim provides education and guidance for parents who are struggling with a child whose gaming has become a problem.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

There is a lot of cross-referral that goes on in my type of work so I am grateful to have a terrific network throughout Fairfield County. In my hometown, I’ve gotten a lot of support from organizations like Causeway Collaborative, Westport Family Consultants, The Bertram Group, Westport College Prep, Smart Kids With Learning Disabilities, SuperPower Consulting.

Nadja will happily nominate any of the businesses that she uses to support her business!
