Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT IPAE - Public Adjusters!

Four questions with Juliana R. de Castro, founder of IPAE - Public Adjusters.

Why did you start your business?

I started in the insurance field in 2012 and opened our business in 2016 serving clients who have their claims wrongfully denied or underpaid by their insurance companies. To date, we have assisted over 2,000 clients to recover a fair settlement on their claims. We are licensed in Connecticut and New York and work closely with the Department of Insurance to bring fairness to the field.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Public Adjustment of property insurance claims. Assisting clients in their time of need. Whenever a client experiences a covered loss such as fire, windstorm, frozen pipes, flood, and their claim goes underpaid, clients hire us to bring a fair resolution to their claims. We have many claims where the recovery was 20 times more than the initial offer from the insurance company.

According to the Department of Insurance, on average, having a public adjuster represent your claim will increase your recovery by 5 times.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We work with restoration companies in lower Fairfield county, agents, attorneys, and even have claims referred to us by judges! We try to have meetings with vendors and sometimes clients in restaurants in Westport to support local businesses. Our company also has an office in Milford and we work with many local businesses in Milford as well.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Yes, always! It’s paramount we keep up to date with the ongoing changes in Insurance laws and regulations! We have also been expanding our technological capacity and use the latest Matterport 3D technology to present all of our client's claims.

We also use drones and 3D reports to run reports for exterior and roofs damaged by windstorms, hail, or ice and snow! A sample of a Matterport 3D project can be found here.

Juliana would like to nominate Arezzo Italian restaurant to be featured next!
