Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT The Calendar Group!

Four questions with Steven Laitmon, founder of The Calendar Group.

Why did you start your business?

We started The Calendar Group, a staffing firm catering to the domestic and executive staffing needs of high net worth clients and their families, nearly 20 years ago. After doing research on the market, we found that there was a Ritz Carlton client base being serviced with the Motel 6 mindset.

What is your best-selling product/service?

The Calendar Group exists as a boutique, service-minded firm to cater to this clientele. Some of the roles we place include Private Chefs, Drivers, Nannies, Housekeepers, Executive Assistants, Personal Assistants, and Household Managers.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We use local businesses including Desktop Guerrillas for our IT support and Seperak and Company for our accounting.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

We have reimagined our small business since Covid and realized that we can successfully serve this market on a national level and look forward to the possibility of scaling.
