Why Small Businesses Matter in Westport: Dharma Massage Therapy

Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Dharma Massage Therapy!

Three questions with Rev. Dr. Mark Heilshorn, founder of Dharma Massage Therapy.

Why did you start your business?

I began Dharma Massage Therapy because I felt there was a need for informative therapeutic massage. Dharma is all about connecting people to their body, mind, and spirit. As an ordained minister I know there is more to the science of touch than mere physical relief. It's about understanding the whole person and applying techniques that cater to the broader needs of the individual. People may come for physical relief, but they always leave with lite and lighter.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My best-selling massage is a 90-minute Brahma-style massage session which is an integrative deep tissue massage. Most of my clientele prefer the 90-minute session as it allows for extraordinary bodywork and time to really unwind.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I use Webster Bank, the Embody Wellness, I am a sponsor of the Westport Farmer's Market, Organic Market, Gold's, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Pottery Barn, Barn's & Noble, Organica, Westport Volvo, Fleet Shoes, CHT, Spotted Pony, Williams Sonoma, Aux Delice, Millie Rae's, Starbucks, and the occasional jaunt to Carvel!
