Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Snug Made at Home!

Three questions with Amanda Kuster, founder of Snug Made at Home.

Why did you start your business?

I started Snug by AK last January. I love to sew and sell masks early in the pandemic. Over the holidays last year, I wanted to make special gifts for my family, after all, we had been through with the pandemic. I designed the blankets and they were a huge hit. After great feedback from friends, I decided to try and turn it into a business.

I’ve since expanded my products to include baby and kid-sized blankets and also custom aprons.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My best and favorite product is the original Snug blanket. Each is handmade by me with the best fabric I can find. They are soft and cuddly with a little weight and they just make people happy.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I purchase most of my wool fabrics from Mood Fabrics in New York City!

Amanda would like to nominate Sandy Srihari Designs to be featured next - "She is another Westport mom and makes beautiful leather jewelry!"
