Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT A Soft Idea!

Three questions with Claudia Vargish, founder of A Soft Idea.

Why did you start your business?

I always had an entrepreneurial spirit! With an education in Fashion Buying and Merchandising and Business Marketing and years of industry experience, I decided to create my collection of home throws and later added baby sweaters and blankets. My family had been in the knitwear industry and I worked in that market, so the first collections were all knits and all Made in the USA!

Unfortunately, we had to source around the world when domestic production became more problematic. We now source around the world but still proudly produce our best-selling baby sweater in the USA!

What is your best-selling product/service?

!00% cotton rollneck baby/youth sweaters. Cotton blend plush throws CUSTOM MONOGRAMMING!

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

We are a classic style with tremendous quality and integrity. We hope that for generations to come, our brand will continue to be loved and cherished.
