Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Chaos2Calm Home !

Four questions with Deering Rose, founder of Chaos2Calm Home Editing.

Why did you start your business?

I began my business because I was a newly single mother and I wanted to be able to keep my hours and not have my 3 yr old in daycare for 8 hours a day. I was prompted to begin this type of work by family and friends whom I had helped in the past and raved about my organizational skills!

What is your best-selling product/service?

I am my best selling/ product. We specialize in packing/moving and setting up clients into their new homes. We work next to the “moving” companies by taking the kitchen, clothing closets, pantry, garage, bathrooms, and all smalls to the new client's home and completely “setting up” your new home so that the day the going company brings over all your furniture…. Your home is almost completely set up already and there are no boxes for you to go searching through to find items.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

The local businesses we use are mostly local donation charities (Turnover Shop, Junk for Poor, Angels, Mohonk Children’s Foundation) We donate towels to pet rescues and many clothing to refugees that have come to CT. We are always looking for more small and local charities to donate to after our Estate Sales (as long as they can pick up).

We order many “work” lunches from Fortunes, Calises, Westfair Fish, Little Barn, and more.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Yes, I have reimagined my business. It began as just an organizing company and then we added on Estate Sales. We now also do online and in-person Auctions as well as staging. I would like to get a space where we can continue to sell items out after the client's sale is over. I would also like to have a larger footprint in the auction community.

Deering would like to nominate The Turnover Shop in Wilton to be featured next!
