Westport Summer Teen Theater is back for kids entering grades 4 - 9! The summer’s production will be Disney's The Lion King, Jr. This show has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world and now, for the first time ever, we have the opportunity to produce this one-of-a-kind musical!
Students may choose to join as an Actor or participate in our Tech Crew. Actors will participate in all aspects of the musical; acting, singing, dancing, and choreography. There will be plenty of group interaction and team building with stretching, storytelling, and theater games. For those students who want to experience the excitement backstage, assist with the many behind-the-scenes roles of putting on a show in our Tech Crew. Most importantly, the Tech Crew learns about and assists with lighting, sound set-up / maintenance, staging, and stage management.
The Westport Summer Teen Theater program is led by Director Ryan Smith, the co-director of Bedford Middle School’s Bedford Acting Group. He is joined by Choreographer Lisa Mennilli, the owner and director of the Lisa Mennilli Dance Academy of Newtown, CT. She has choreographed over 50 productions in community theater throughout the region. The team also includes Sabrini Perrini, founder and master teacher at Sabrina's Encore Productions in Newtown, CT. Her inspiration to become a teacher stemmed from wanting to be there to help and support students while sharing her passion for music and theatre.
The camp will take place at Bedford Middle School for four weeks from Monday, June 27 - Friday, July 22 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. The cost is $875.
Performances will take place at Bedford Middle School in Westport, CT on Thursday, July 21 at 7:30 pm, Friday, July 22 at 7:30 pm, and Saturday, July 23 at 2:00 pm & 7:30 pm.
