You're IT Kathy Caprino: Your Path to Career Bliss!

Three questions with Kathy Caprino.

Why did you start your business?

After a very challenging layoff from my corporate marketing VP role in the days following 9/11, I made a critical decision to leave my 18-year corporate career behind, and pivot to serve in the helping professions. I earned a Master's degree in marriage and family therapy through Fairfield University (which I loved!) and studied coaching as well.

After several years in those two fields, I opened my career and leadership coaching and consulting business focused on supporting the advancement of women in business (and committed to helping my clients bypass the deep challenges I had personally faced). We've been supporting professional women both locally and across 6 continents over the past 16 years, helping them grow their careers, strengthen their leadership and communication capabilities, and make a larger impact.

What is your bestselling product/service?

To date, our bestselling service has been The Amazing Career Project - a 16-week online course that teaches women the 16 most essential steps to building a successful, rewarding and thrilling career, doing work that they're proud of. Over the past 8 years of running the course, hundreds of women across many different fields and industries have participated and have pivoted or expanded their careers and reached truly amazing goals and achievements! It's very inspiring to see.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I have re-imagined my business and pivoted it several times over the years, most recently through the covid pandemic. One key pivot involves a new focus on teaching and training content that I share in my latest book The Most Powerful You: 7 Bravery-Boosting Paths to Career Bliss, and in the accompanying 8-module video training course The Most Powerful You.

This material shares what my research over 16 years has found are the 7 most damaging power gaps that negatively impact a staggering 98% of professional women and 90% of men, preventing them from reaching their highest, most rewarding career potential. While my business has typically been in the B2C space serving professional women directly, I'm now focusing on serving organizations as well -- helping their teams, emerging leaders and work cultures close these power gaps and achieve their top goals and business outcomes.

This year, an international division of the United Nations-sponsored The Most Powerful You video course as a training tool for members of their workforce, and I'm in talks with other organizations to bring the course in as a key training tool to help their workforces achieve greater collective success and impact.

Kathy would like to nominate Mancini Salon of Westport to be featured next - "Owned by Carla Morales, Mancini Westport lies in the heart of Westport, CT. The salon’s energy, care, and great service provided create an oasis for clients to relax, feel revived, and welcomed into a caring community. Throughout the pandemic, they continued to deliver top-level service while adhering to the necessary protocols and mandates and keeping their clients and staff safe and protected. Highly recommended!"
