Shop small, do big things for your community

You're IT Montalvo Rolon Sotomayor Consulting Firm.

Four questions with Juan Montalvo, founder of Montalvo Rolon Sotomayor.

Why did you start your business?

I started Montalvo Rolon Sotomayor. LLC in December of 2022 with my business partner and friend Jason Sotomayor. Jason and I have a passion for assisting businesses to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our team has over 10 years of experience in business consulting and management.

We love the challenge of being able to assist our clients. In an environment of non-stop change, the lessons we have learned from our success in turnaround and restructuring are as relevant for healthy and growing companies as they are for troubled ones

As we say, every great business is driven by a great idea. Something earth-shattering and so impossible to let go of, that it must be pursued. Ours is that the world must operate as a business. The challenges we face to secure sustainable growth, instead of focusing on short-sided financial interest at the cost of future generations. There is a lack of regularity – we must rebalance.

We need a new model. An approach not solely based on measuring returns, but on something deeper, more meaningful, and more substantial. Why? Because we believe that progress and innovation should and can create lasting change. We are convinced that, in taking responsibility for the most profound challenges of our time, we have a unique opportunity to rethink the system. A new way of achieving growth and securing profitable business, while securing a viable future.

What is your best-selling product/service?

I would say it’s our consulting services, and the reason is clear: we love the challenge of being able to assist our clients in navigating disruption. In an environment of non-stop change, the lessons we have learned from our success in turnaround and restructuring are as relevant for healthy and growing companies as they are for troubled ones.

One of the most critical lessons we have learned is that you cannot stop disruption if you are overwhelmed with distractions. You have to cut through the noise to find and focus on what matters. You must be willing to take bold actions to take your company where it needs to go and to do so with speed and precision.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

That’s a great question, while I don’t know the actual number, it’s a large number. Because small local businesses are the backbone of our economy.

Some of the businesses we love to frequent are Walrus Alley, Specs, Westport Playhouse, Mitchells, and our friends at B@work and Westport Glass!

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Everyday! Because like most business owners we all want to succeed. Each day is a new day and with that change comes the changing of ideas, the need to do more than we did yesterday, to do better and reach farther, and to get more accomplished.
