Westport Town Clerk Announces Special Saturday Hours for Absentee Voting Saturday, August 8

Town Clerk Patricia Strauss announced today that the Town Clerk’s office will be available to accommodate absentee voting this Saturday, August 8th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  Staff will be stationed outside at the rear entrance of Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave since the town hall building is closed to the public.  These special hours are scheduled to accommodate voters applying for an ABSENTEE BALLOT to vote in the DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL and STATE PRIMARIES to be held August 11, 2020.

This year, absentee ballot applications were mailed to all registered Democrats and Republicans in early July. Most voters who applied for a ballot have received them. However, for those eligible voters who wish to vote in person, the polls will be open on Tuesday, August 11 from 6:00am to 8:00pm.  All voting will take place at Bedford Middle School, 88 North Avenue.  Please wear Personal Protective Equipment and participate in social distancing.

In addition to the existing qualifications to vote absentee, the Governor’s Executive Order 7QQ allows all electors to vote early due to Covid-19.

Ballots may be returned by mail delivery or by using the Official Ballot Drop Box located at the rear entrance of Town Hall.  See sample below.  If you are concerned your ballot may not reach town hall in time, please consider using the Drop Box.  All ballots must be returned to the Town Clerk’s office no later than 8PM on Tuesday, August 11th when the polls officially close.

Applications for absentee ballots can be downloaded from the town website www.westportct.gov.
