Woman Turns Herself Into Westport Police After Indecent Exposure Incident at Compo Beach

On Monday, July 15, 2019 at approximately 1:28pm officers responded to Compo Beach on what was reported by the complainant as an indecent exposure.  The caller reported to officers that she had observed a female on the beach remove the top portion of her bathing suit to tan.

Believing that this behavior was inappropriate for a public beach, this individual attempted to confront the woman about what she was doing.  Upon speaking with this individual and attempting to convey her concerns, the woman allegedly became belligerent and proceeded to remove the bottom portion of her bathing suit exposing her buttocks.  The complainant was with her juvenile child at the time, who apparently witnessed this entire incident.  The complainant reported that in addition to her inappropriate behavior this woman appeared to her to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the interaction.

An extensive investigation by an officer led to the identification of the suspect in this incident as Anna Lee Halderman.  In a subsequent interview with Halderman she stated that she did not recall what she may have done on the date in question but apologized for her behavior.  An arrest warrant was sought and granted for Halderman in connection with this incident.

On Saturday, August 17, 2019 Anna Lee Halderman came to police headquarters to turn herself in on this outstanding warrant for her arrest.  She was charged with violations of 53-21 Risk of Injury to a Minor and 53a-181(a) Breach of Peace in the Second Degree.  Bond was court set at $50,000.00 which she was able to post.  Halderman is scheduled to be arraigned on these charges at Norwalk Superior Court on the morning of Friday August 23, 2019.
