Westport Police Warn Residents of Eversource SCAM

EVERSOURCE SCAM ALERT

Some Westport residents have reported receiving a call from an “Eversource” representative who threatens to disconnect their electricity unless immediate payment is made. This is a SCAM. In the past couple weeks, a few people in Westport have fallen victim to this scam. They sent the suspect(s) payment through Zelle.

If anyone calls, emails, or visits your home or business regarding an outstanding payment and threatens to disconnect your power it is not Eversource. Any Eversource customer who is legitimately scheduled for disconnection due to nonpayment must receive written notice via U.S. mail which includes actions the customer can take to maintain service. Eversource will never request payment through Zelle.
