St. Matthew's Makes 903 Lunches for Those in Need

The parishioners of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church heard a call for help and for the second time, and they answered it. This past Saturday, many volunteers from St. Matthew's Church and Wilton Presbyterian Church helped to make 903 sandwich lunches. There were sandwich assembly lines, bag packing lines and the youngest volunteers colored and decorated the bags with messages of faith and encouragement. That same afternoon, a refrigeration truck picked up the lunches and delivered them to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. This week, these lunches will be given to nearly 200 children who are attending the summer program at Children's Learning Centers in the Norwalk area. It was an amazing outpouring of love and generosity from St. Matthew's and the Wilton Presbyterian Church. St. Matthew's outreach ministry supports the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and dozens of other agencies, including Americares, Center For Hope, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Elder House, Home Fronts, Norwalk Emergency Shelter, Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County, and Wilton Social Services. It was an inspirational event for everyone involved, and St. Matthew's parish was thrilled to be able to help.
