Angela La Pick is no stranger to food and cooking. She started years ago studying culinary arts in Santa Monica, CA. And while her life took her on travels, she took classes from locals and learned new techniques. She has also taught various classes at Williams-Sonoma. But it was 20 years ago, when her fourth child was born, that her desire to cook and teach really took off. She decided to start offering cooking classes in her Westport home. Although her background is in interior design, which she still does, she wanted to be able to spend more time with her kids, so it was a natural decision to start her home based cooking venture.
Angela remarks, "My first group from Darien and Westport was so successful that the same 18 women came to my home every week for the next five years!" Based on this success, she started a second group which stemmed from her book club. A couple of years later and a move to Fairfield, a new group was started which consisted of some of her original Westport group.
Her success is continuing into a food business making frozen gourmet Empanadas. Her products are called "The Girl From Empanada" which are sold in the Pantry in Fairfield, Stiles Market in Westport and Palmers in Darien.
