Behind the Scenes Tour of Norwalk Collects: Celebrating Four Historic Collections

Go behind the scenes of one of the Norwalk Historical Society's new exhibits, Norwalk Collects: Celebrating Four Historic Collections, with guest curator, Elizabeth Pratt Fox, on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00pm.   The event will be held at the new Norwalk Historical Society Museum, 141 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT.  Parking is available at Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue. The Museum is located next to the Norwalk Health Department, in the red brick house with blue double front doors. Tickets are $10.00. Get an insider's look at life behind the exhibit! Award-winning curator, Elizabeth Pratt Fox, will take you on a journey behind the scenes of one of her newest installations, Norwalk Collects: Celebrating Four Historic Collections.  Learn about the planning process that went into curating the exhibit. Discover how the objects were selected to tell a specific story and hear never-before-told stories about some of the rare pieces included in the exhibit. A question and answer session will conclude the tour.

Elizabeth Pratt Fox has assisted institutions with exhibition planning and implementation; institutional assessments and planning, and collection assessment. Prior to forming her consulting company in 1997, she worked at the Yale University Art Gallery, Connecticut Landmarks, Wadsworth Atheneum and the Connecticut Historical Society. Her projects have won awards from the Connecticut Humanities Council, Decorative Arts Society and the Association for the Study of State and Local History. The Connecticut League of History Organizations selected her to present several full-day workshops on curatorship and collection care and management and exhibition development. She served on the Board of the Connecticut League of History Organizations. She is a mentor for the StEPS-CT program, an advisor for the Peer Advisor Network at the Connecticut Office of Culture and Tourism and Chairs the Cheshire Historic District Commission. She holds a B.F.A. from the University of Oklahoma and a M.A. in Art History from Tulane University.
