Wilton Police Announce New Chief of Police

The Wilton Police Commission is proud to announce they have selected John Lynch to be the next Chief of Police. This comes on the heels of the announced retirement of current Wilton Police Chief Robert Crosby. Captain Lynch will be the Town’s seventh Chief of Police.

Captain Lynch started with the Wilton Police Department in July 1985 as a dispatcher and Auxiliary Officer. Captain Lynch rose through the ranks and is currently the Operations Captain and designated as the department’s Executive Officer.

Captain Lynch is a strong proponent of community policing and started Wilton’s first Community Bike Patrol in 1996. During his career, Captain Lynch has worked in nearly every capacity of the department.

Captain Lynch has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing a Master’s In Public Administration from POST University. Captain Lynch graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy in 2011, and has a wealth of training and experience that will serve him well as the department’s next leader. Captain Lynch has been a resident of Wilton for 17 years. His commitment to the Town of Wilton is apparent as a Board of Trustee member of the Wilton Historical Society, a Georgetown Fire Department volunteer, previous Wilton Ambulance Corp volunteer and “A Better Chance” supporter among others.
