Why Small Businesses Matter in Wilton: Chris Capelle, Macintosh Computer Expert

Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

Three questions with Chris Capelle.
Why did you start your business?
The start-up I was working for went under, and I had a mortgage and my first child on the way. No pressure…
Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”
I wish I could prevent clients from having a lot of the problems that I get called for. Often, a first-time client calls because their hard drive died and they don’t have a backup. Had I dealt with them previously, I would’ve implemented a backup and saved them all sorts of time, money and grief. It costs under $75 for a drive and less than a half-hour of my time to set it all up. Note to all your readers: BACK UP YOUR DATA!!
What is your best selling product/service?
Me. Or more specifically, my consulting service. I have a wealth of pragmatic, real-world knowledge from working in all sorts of industries. I know technology, have plenty of common sense, can work effectively with all sorts of people and have a great personality.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
A bunch! When I can, I refer clients to other clients - bookkeepers, graphic artists, professional organizers, etc.. I try to “shop local” when possible. And when I can’t, I gravitate towards other small businesses out there. There is life outside of Amazon.com! I teach the “Tech Friday” classes at Comstock Senior Center in Wilton.
