The Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT) recently received a generous donation from Servco Oil and Propane through their parent company, Santa Energy. The $4,913 donation was given to help extend the NRVT north of Skunk Lane in Wilton at the northern end of the Wilton East Loop.
The next section will cross Skunk Lane and enter one of the most exciting, albeit challenging, portions of the Wilton Loop. This is one of the most beautiful spans of wetlands in the Loop allowing trail users a greater appreciation for a vital ecosystem that's rarely accessible. This next section will be 1,070 feet long; consisting of 790 foot long boardwalk, plus 280 feet of trail. The black rectangle on the attached map shows the location of the next section.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, the NRVT had trail use spike up to 260% over prior years. The NRVT has 8 miles of completed of trail and 22 more miles to build.
