Special 4-Part Workshop Series Coming to Trackside
Down & Dirty with The Green Team
Trackside Teen Center, the Wilton Garden Club, Wilton Go Green, and the Wilton Conservation Commission are excited to announce their 4 part workshop series “Down & Dirty w/ The Green Team” will take place in March at the Trackside Teen Center. The workshops are open to the public and will provide answers to lots of questions people have related to gardening, conservation, and sustainability. For example:
What are the recycle rules in town? How can my family’s table scraps help the environment? How to make garden art from items in my home? What’s upcycling? How to make a mini greenhouse? Are worms good? How to arrange those flowers I grew? What makes a good pollinator garden?
Knowledgeable Green Team facilitators will have the answer to all those questions and more in the workshops. It will be open to adults and Wilton middle and high school students as an after school activity and membership to Trackside is not necessary. Each workshop will be held the first 4 Thursdays in March from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.
Pam Nobumoto and Laurie Musilli who manage the Green Teens group during spring and summer wanted a to extend their garden and conservation program to the entire community during the winter months to provide timely and relevant information. “We reached out to Lori Fields, Director of Trackside Teen Center of Wilton who loved the concept and suggested we put together a series of workshops for the public and use the Trackside Teen Center for the events,” explained Musilli.
One thing led to another and now it has come together thanks to the collaborative efforts of Trackside Teen Center, Wilton Garden Club, Wilton Go Green, and the Wilton Conservation Commission.
information on how we can all become better stewards of our environment with some gardening and creative fun thrown in for the mix. We are also grateful to the workshop facilitators who will volunteer their time and expertise and to the Trackside team who are incredibly generous in offering their facilities for these meaningful programs,” stated Nobumoto.
