Wilton Delegation & Friends of Ambler Farm Executive Director to Hold Press Conference Highlighting $225,000 in Funding for Farm

Wilton Delegation and Ambler Farm Executive Director to hold press conference highlighting funding for The Friends of Ambler Farm to benefit Ambler Farm

On Wednesday, June 21 at 1:30 pm from Ambler Farm, the Wilton Delegation will be joined by Friends of Ambler Farm Executive Director  Ashley Kineon and First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice for a press conference highlighting $225,000 in funding to benefit the well-known local farm.

The Wilton Delegation consists of state Senator Ceci Maher (D-Wilton) and state Representative Keith Denning (D-Wilton). The funding will go towards multiple projects to improve the farm’s infrastructure and historic buildings, including the Raymond Ambler House, as well as agricultural needs such as a new well and lead remediation.

Managed by the Friends of Ambler Farm, Ambler Farm provides hands-on educational programming, dynamic events, sustainable agriculture, and historic appreciation. Per the farm’s website, Ambler Farm is set on “22 acres of rolling fields complete with stone walls and breathtaking views. There are several buildings and gardens on the property.”

One of those buildings is the Raymond-Ambler House, also known as the White House, built in 1799 by Josiah Raymond. Ambler Farm was purchased by the town in 1999 with town meeting approval following the passing of Betty Ambler, the last of the Raymond-Ambler family to live at Ambler Farm.

Because the complex consisted of historic houses, barns and various out-buildings, this acquisition was unlike any other and prompted the town to appoint a steering committee to consider the farm’s future. From this committee, a non-profit group called the Friends of Ambler Farm was formed and a mission crafted to celebrate Wilton’s agrarian roots through active-learning programs, sustainable agriculture, responsible land stewardship, and historic appreciation.”
