New Jewish Community Center to Open in Wilton, Bringing Education and Unity to Jews in the wake of Recent Events
WILTON, CT - As the Jewish community and allies worldwide mark one year since the October 7th attacks, Wilton prepares to welcome a new center for Jewish learning and culture. Operating under the auspices of Chabad of Westport, this new center will offer a wide range of social, and educational programming for Wilton’s growing Jewish population and will serve as a home for all things Jewish in Wilton’s downtown.
"The opening of the new center comes at a time where Jewish unity and pride are of great importance,” said Rabbi Yehudah Kantor, director of Chabad of Westport. “In light of the Jewish community’s growth since Covid 19, where more young families are moving here from New York, this is the right time to establish a new center for outreach and education.”
The new Chabad center in Wilton will serve as a satellite to the flagship center in Westport, offering unique programs and resources tailored to the local Jewish community. Initial plans include a seasonal Judaica store with items changing according to the Jewish call "Mommy and Me" programs for families with small children, book readings and holiday-oriented programs for children and teens, as well as classes on spirituality, mental health, and life balance for adults.
Chabad invites all members of the community, regardless of their Jewish background or level of observance, to engage with the new center once it opens. More details about the grand opening and initial programs will be announced in the coming weeks.
