
Death Investigation
On Thursday, March 6th, 2025, at 12:51 PM the Norwalk Police Department was contacted by the Wilton Police Department requesting assistance utilizing the Norwalk Police Department’s UAV in reference to a missing person in their town. Norwalk Patrol Officers responded to Schenck’s Island, 202 Ridgefield Road, Wilton, CT and were advised of found clothing and personal items belonging to an individual, left near the bank of the Norwalk River, which was flowing rapidly due to the heavy rain overnight. Officers believed the individual entered the Norwalk River and began their search.
Norwalk Police Officers utilized the UAV, conducting an aerial search southbound along the riverbanks of the Norwalk River, while additional Norwalk Police Officers and members of Norwalk Fire Department searched along the river. Shortly thereafter, a body was located in the Norwalk River, near the area of Main Avenue and Grist Mill Road. Members of the Norwalk Police Department SCUBA Team and Norwalk Fire Department recovered the body from the swiftly moving water.
The Norwalk Police Department Detective Bureau is now investigating the incident. The individual’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
