A college baseball pitcher who has sustained his share of shoulder injuries, Dr. Nicholas (sans “k”) brings a wealth of knowledge and personal experience to the business.

Four decades owning and operating a business in Ridgefield is a big deal! Tell me a bit about the evolution and growing of your business, Peterson Chiropractic & Wellness.
Peterson Chiropractic & Wellness has been in existence for 40 years when the Dr. Nickalos L. Peterson and his wife Dawn, who is the office manager, moved to Ridgefield in 1977. Dr. Peterson has done a lifetime of postgraduate studies in applied kinesiology, cox, sports medicine, acupuncture, personal injury, nutrition. His experience as a medic in Vietnam contributes to his knowledge of first aid and acute care.
Dr. Nicholas A. Peterson, son joined the practice in 2008. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the practice in sports medicine, rehabilitative care, and dry needle acupuncture.
Nicholas A. Peterson and his father, Dr. Nickalos L. Peterson are licensed doctors of Chiropractic and acupuncturists. Dr. Nickalos L. Peterson (father) practices medical acupuncture and Dr Nicholas A. Peterson (son), practices Dry Needle Acupuncture.
Your son, Nicholas, also a doctor (and a former starting pitcher for Hamilton College), brings extensive knowledge in sports medicine to the practice. Tell me about this.
Dr. Nicholas A. Peterson was a gifted athlete growing up was a baseball pitcher and hockey player through college. As a result of many shoulder and arm injuries & eventual surgery Dr. Nicholas A. Peterson has studied the reconditioning of the shoulder and other extremities.
Under his care, patients find amazing results. He studied additional courses in physical therapy while attending Life University where he graduated in 2008. He is particularly interested in the rehabilitative phase of care providing exercises and therapeutic activities in his approach.
And, you are Peterson Chiropractic and “Wellness”. Tell me about your comprehensive suite of wellness services.
Peterson Chiropractic offers not only a variety of chiropractic adjustments such as Diversified, Cox Distraction, Applied Kinesiology, Soto, & Activator. Particular emphasis is on Active Release/Decompression for herniated discs. In addition, we offer an entire physical therapy suite employing modalities of electrical stim, mechanical traction, spinal decompression, power plate, ultrasound, heat, and ice.
Hands on modalities we offer are acupuncture, therapeutic activities, trigger point therapy, massage, exercises, and PNF(Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation).
We focus not on just the area of injury or pain but look at the entire spine and body in approaching care We perform a comprehensive initial exam to diagnose and determine what course of care the patient needs to become not only pain-free but to correct his or her problem. We provide x-rays on site.
How long have you and your husband been Ridgefield residents? Did you children attend Ridgefield schools?
Our three children were born and raised in Ridgefield and attended Ridgefield Public Schools. All three children were college athletes. Danielle was a swimmer, Nicholas hockey and baseball, Kristofor (K.C.) All American lacrosse.
You have a well-known massage therapist, Roberta Russell, who is also an expert Reiki practitioner, as part of your team. How does she compliment your services?
Robert Russell is available by appointment in our office. The doctors communicate with Roberta what area of the body and type of massage a patient would find most beneficial.
