Wilton's Cannon Grange Announces Sous Vide Cooking Demo

Local foodie and winner of the last Grange Fair pie contest, Sara Schrager will present a demonstration of Sous Vide cooking at 7pm on December 6 at Wilton's Cannon Grange.

Named from the French for "under vacuum" because it often involves sealing food in plastic, sous vide allows you to cook food gently in an automatic water bath to the perfect temperature. Sounds complicated, but the technique has trickled down from experimental fine-dining restaurant kitchens to the home kitchen precisely because it's an easy, convenient, and hands-off way to cook.

Sara will talk about the history, and the evolution into today's simple and inexpensive kitchen appliances. She will also demonstrate, step by step, the preparation of an item from fridge to plate. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Cannondale Train Station across the street from the Cannon Grange.
