Summer Meets Winter in Wilton Library’s Newest Exhibit

Summer Meets Winter in Wilton Library’s Visual Eight Art Exhibition opening Jan. 4

Wilton, CT – In a clever twist, artists who have been involved in Wilton Library’s Summer Shows in one way or another have been invited to exhibit their works this winter in “The Visual Eight” art exhibition at the library opening Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  The group includes artists who live, work, or have some connection to Wilton. The artists are Sandra Bacher, Joseph Barber (deceased, represented by his niece, Linda Morgan), Lynda Carroll, Carole Ann Mills, Judith Schomer, John “Randy” Tate, Kathleen Wrampe and Marian Wulffleff.

From teaching art as a vocation to pursuing art as an avocation, the eight artists have embraced their passion most of their lives and their works represent myriad styles, a range of mediums including oils, watercolors, acrylics, mixed media, encaustic, charcoal, pencil and photography, and a variety of subject matter.  The artists have won awards, been featured in numerous juried, group and solo exhibitions and have many of their works in private collections.

Ed MacEwen, art chairman for the library remarked, “Our Summer Show lets us peek at the works of many wonderful artists.  This exhibition gives us a chance to see more from this talented group of painters and creators, all of whom have some sort of connection to Wilton, past or present.”

The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through Sunday, Jan. 27.  The majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. The media sponsor for the exhibition is The Wilton Bulletin.

Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Road in the heart of Wilton Center.  Library hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 10 to 8; Fridays, 10 to 6; Saturdays, 10 to 5 and Sundays, 1 to 5.  The library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
