It’s time to roll out the red carpet and pop the champagne! The excitement and glamour of Hollywood comes to Ridgefield on Sunday, February 24 when the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival hosts its annual Oscars® Screening Gala at the elegant Lounsbury House. Guests will celebrate the best in film and enjoy a fabulous star-studded evening as RIFF kicks off its 2019 season.

The evening will be co-hosted by Westport’s 17-time New York Times best-selling author Jane Green, and the hilarious (and considerably toned-down!) Lisa Lampanelli who has rebranded herself “The Queen of Meaning.”

“With the lack of a formal host for the Academy Awards show in Hollywood, we thought we’d fill the void this year and include not just one, but two celebrity guest-hosts at the RIFF gala,” says Festival Director, Megan Smith-Harris. “Lisa and Jane are good friends in real life, so it made perfect sense to blend their respective senses of humor for the festivities. We’re honestly not sure what either of them is going to say or do, but we know whatever it is, it’s going to be a lot fun. Jane and Lisa will definitely add an extra sense of playfulness to an already fabulous evening.”

Guests will walk the red carpet, enjoy a special menu of passed hors d‘oeuvres, along with signature cocktails, beer, and wine and watch the Academy Awards® ceremony on multiple big screens. Other highlights of the evening include a silent auction, movie trivia, prize draws, a complimentary popcorn and candy concession stand, a 3-D digital Green Screen photo booth. Musician Jerold Goldstein will play standards and movie-themed music during the cocktail hour.

The silent auction offers unique items including one-of-a-kind collectible Hollywood memorabilia, tickets to a variety of shows and concerts, custom jewelry, original art by Ridgefielders Spencer Eldridge and Paul Siegel, vintage wines and spirits, the opportunity to drive a monster truck, and much more. Jane Green has offered to include the name of the highest bidder as a character in her next novel. Lisa Lampanelli has offered a VIP package to her upcoming show at the Ridgefield Playhouse as well as four one-on-one Life Coaching sessions. State Senator Will Haskell is donating a tour of the State House as well as a private lunch.

Don’t miss this much-anticipated red-carpet event. Tickets are available at RIFFct.org.

The evening’s venue sponsor is Lounsbury House and the event is sponsored by Edward and Catherine Romer, TownVibe Media, HamletHub, Nicholson Events, Rodier Flowers, Some Things Fishy, and the Cake Box.
