Saturday, April 13 New Perspectives Film Series—The Accountant of Auschwitz, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. In conjunction with our Wilton Reads programs related to this year’s book, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, our New Perspectives documentary film series will present The Accountant of Auschwitz, a 2018 documentary about the 2015 trial in Germany of an SS Officer who was a bookkeeper at that concentration camp. In his early 90s at the time of his trial, Oskar Groning had been living quietly in a small town in Germany for decades. In the 1980s he had come out publicly about his time during WW2 in reaction to the rise of Holocaust denial with Groning vehemently denouncing the Holocaust deniers based on his own first-hand experiences at Auschwitz. The film raises many important issues about how Germany handled its Holocaust responsibility after the war as well as issues of personal culpability, redemption, possibly even forgiveness. Sure to spur a fascinating discussion.  Suggested donation: $5. Refreshments served. The New Perspectives Documentary series is programmed and moderated by filmmaker Megan Smith-Harris. A Q&A will follow the film.   Registration highly recommended. Register online or call 203-762-6334. Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton; www.wiltonlibrary.org; (203) 762-3950.

Monday, April 22 Weir Farm Artist-in-Residence Exhibition/Reception: Steffen Pollock, 6 – 7:30 p.m. April brings Steffen Pollock to the Weir Farm Artist-in-Residence program. Drawing from several literary sources, (Pilgrim at Tinker Creek, Hunger Mountain, and Spell of the Sensuous) Pollock’s work will explore the lack of distinction in ‘subject’ and ‘object’. If the land is a text, he expresses himself as a segment of that text. Our view of ‘land’ is determined by what type of mental interpretive structure we are using to see. ‘Seeing’ is not and has never been the exclusive domain of the human eye. He will use different means to ‘see’ including satellite imaging, field recordings, land surveys, and telemetry. See library’s registration link for details. Co-sponsored by Weir Farm Art Center and Weir Farm National Historic Site and presented by Wilton Library. No charge. Registration suggested. Register online or call 203-762-6334.  Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton; www.wiltonlibrary.org; 203-762-3950.
