Music on the Hill invites all to enjoy the inaugural performance of the Community Children's Chorus (2nd-8th grades), alongside the 40-person Festival Chorus.
Songs of Thanksgiving honors the season, and includes some uplifting familiar tunes, alongside original pieces inspired by the Wabanaki tribes and the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke. Artistic Director Ellen Dickinson will present the world premiere of her choral work "...in the world... of the earth," inspired by the Wabanaki nation of the Maine/eastern Canada regions.
The piece blends authentic and traditional greetings and dance with Dickinson's own poetry, and invites us to experience thanksgiving from the perspective of First Nations, or Native American, people. In addition, Wilton's renowned harpist Wendy Kerner will be featured in another world premiere performance, "Cycles of Transformation," composed for her by Dr. Ed Thompson from the Unitarian Church in Westport, drawing from Rilke's Book of Hours.
A lovely concert to honor and give thanks to the world we live in. Reception following the concert. $20 donations appreciated but not required. Please join us!
