Thursday, June 11 Riverside Reptiles Live! Every Animal Tells a Story, 3 – 3:30 p.m. All-time Wilton Library favorite Riverside Reptiles is coming back for the Summer Reading Kick-Off of “Imagine Your Story”! They will present their program, “Every Animal has a Story” as an interactive virtual entertainment for kids of all ages. Five creatures—each with their own story and history. Thursdays, June 11, 18, 25 and July 2 Homer’s Epic Celebration of Civilization: Four Lectures on The Odyssey, 5 – 6 p.m. Mark Schenker of Yale College presents a four-part online lecture series on The Odyssey on four consecutive Thursdays beginning, June 11, from 5 to 6 p.m. Homer’s epic masterpiece that will place the poem in the context of the Ancient Greek world and the Western literary tradition. Mark’s primary emphasis, however, will be on The Odyssey as a literary work of art, reanimated by the collective reading of it. Participants will encounter once again Homer’s masterpiece of barbarism and civilization, of adventuring and homecoming, whose hero is both a warrior and a husband. There is no charge for the program. This lecture is made possible with the support of the Literary Series in Memory of Amy Quigley. Advance registration is required.
