FCBuzz Weekend: Pumpkins in Wilton, Halloween Dogs in Fairfield, The Machine in Ridgefield, and MORE!

The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of the arts and culture across the 15 towns in our region of coastal Fairfield County and each Wednesday issues our free E-Buzz newsletter with a selection of the hundreds of events posted to our website by our members. 

Friday at 7pm, head over to MoCA Westport for another great show from the Music at MoCA series. The Figgs are a tried-and-true band with a worldwide fan base, a hearty discography, and a catalog of studio albums, EPs, and singles.

Maybe you’re in the mood for an amazing acoustic show? Friday at 8pm, Bridgeport’s  Bijou Theatre features the internationally acclaimed Mike Massé, performing some of the best classic rock songs from the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, U2, Elton John, and more. 

Saturday afternoon is packed with a bountiful harvest of Fall fun. Fairfield Harvest Market & Dog Halloween Costume Parade begins at 10am on Saturday at the Historic Old Town Hall Green in Fairfield, featuring 70+ vendors offering artwork, crafts, pet products, jewelry, upcycled and rustic furniture, home décor items as well as food trucks and vendors from the weekly Fairfield Farmers Market. The Dog Halloween Costume Parade will start promptly at noon. Dress your fur baby in their Halloween costume and line up at 11:45am to parade along Old Post Road. 

Then at 2pm, the grounds of the Wilton Historical Society will be strewn with pumpkins, gourds, mums and corn for The Great Wilton Pumpkin Fest. Munch a donut and sip some cider, decorate a pumpkin, play cornhole or “Ring Toss with Pumpkins” and so much more.

Also at 2pm, in the heart of downtown Westport, you will find the Westport Downtown Association's third annual Westoberfest. With over 60 tastings from a variety of award winning and innovative craft breweries, an assortment of fun fall activities including live music, local food, air-cooled cars, a pumpkin giveaway, and a location steps away from the best shops and restaurants Westport has to offer, Westoberfest is the perfect way to spend an October afternoon with friends and family.

As the Saturday sun sets and evening arrives, Stamford’s Loft Artists Association opens its 8th Annual Juried Exhibit, Chiaroscuro: The Art of Light and Dark5-7pm, with a reception and awards ceremony. The concept of Chiaroscuro has been evident throughout art history since the 5th C. in Greece. Come and see why this effect has stood the test of time. 

Norwalk’s  St Philip Artists' Guild opens its doors to the public for the first time in over two years with  “Euphoria”, Saturday 5:30 - 8:30pm. Enjoy a live art exhibit with open studios featuring 21 artists at the magnificent Oakwood Estate Mansion in Norwalk. Opening their doors the Guild is eager for the community to experience this celebration of artistic excitement and creative joy with over 100 works of art and open studios for guests, live music and refreshments. 

Later on, join a night of “Lunacy” with the International Westport Astronomical Society when it opens up the Westport Observatory campus for International Observe the Moon Night. Take part in lunar viewing, hands-on activities, virtual and in-person events, and more. Come together with fellow Moon enthusiasts and curious people worldwide to honor cultural and personal connections to the Moon. 

If music is more your style, THE MACHINE performs Pink Floyd at The Ridgefield Playhouse Saturday at 7:30and Sacred Fire, the blistering six-piece Latin Rock SANTANA Tribute band, takes the stage at The Bijou in Bridgeport at 8:00. 

On Sunday, Connecticut’s non-profit mobile art museum, cARTie, is hosting an Open House celebration event from 3:00-6:00pm Food, drink, live music, student art, and unforgettable photo-ops aboard the art museum bus. Located at the NEST Arts Factory in Bridgeport, this celebration is in gratitude for everyone helping to bridge inequities in education and arts access across the state, bringing the museum experience to more than 1,000 PreK-2 students.
