Santa Visits the Great Trains Holiday Show at Wilton Historical Society on December 11

Santa Visits the Great Trains Holiday Show on Saturday, December 11, 1:00 – 3:00 at the Wilton Historical Society

Find your holiday glow during a fun afternoon at the Wilton Historical Society’s Great Trains Holiday Show. On Saturday, December 11, from 1:00 – 3:00 stop by with the kids to visit with Santa, who will be outside by the 1860 Abbott Barn.

Before or after your visit with Santa, leave time to see the trains run, marvel at the amazing Snow Village, have an heirloom-quality silhouette portrait made, and shop the Betts Store Museum Shop to find one-of-a-kind gifts for family and friends! Saturday, December 11 from 10:00 – 4:00 is a Holly Jolly day at the Wilton Historical Society, with something for everyone.

Silhouette artist Debbie O’Connor will be creating her amazing heirloom portraits, (11:00 – 2:00) by appointment; call 203-762-7257 to reserve a booking now. Up in the Toy Loft is a marvelous Snow Village, on loan from the collections of Moira Craw and Justin Remsteck, both of Wilton. In addition to approximately 65 entrancing buildings, there are teensy moving figures, including swans a-swimming, children skating on a pond, kids sledding and skiing down hills, and even people dancing in one of the whimsical houses!

Decorated for the Great Trains Holiday Show, the historic 18th and 19th century buildings at Wilton Historical have been transformed into a train-lovers delight with trains winding through tiny towns with many different kinds of buildings, tunnels, and village scenes, on layouts for G, HO, N, O, S and Lego. The interactive display enchants visitors of all ages with lots of buttons to push and knowledgeable “train engineers” on hand to “talk trains”.

The Betts Store museum shop features Wilton-themed items and is brimming with an eclectic mix of beautifully hand-made items, many created locally. It’s a “best bet” stop for great gifts!

Admission to the Great Trains Holiday Show: Free for all Members; Non-members: $5 per child and $10 per adult.
