Wilton's Ambler Farm Announces New Beekeeping Program
Have you heard the buzz? Ambler Farm is starting a Beekeeping Program!
Honey bees are fascinating creatures that play an incredibly important role in our food chain through pollination. This program is designed for adults with a casual interest as well as beginning beekeepers. Participants will follow our Ambler Farm honey bees throughout the year, beginning in April with hiving a new package of bees. We will then monitor our bees throughout the spring, summer and fall. It is expected that there will be 8 opportunities for registrants to visit our bees and monitor their progress as the hive grows. If you have your own hive, this is a great way to learn about your bees and compare them to trends we are seeing in the Ambler hives.
We plan to meet on Sundays from 1:00-2:00pm, four times in the spring, twice in the summer and twice in the fall. Meeting dates will be determined by the arrival of our bees and their progress.
Please contact Kevin Meehan at kevin@amblerfarm.org with questions and if you are starting your own hive in conjunction with this program.
