View Wilton’s Plan for Conservation and Development

2019 Draft Plan of Wilton Conservation and Development, Viewing & Public Comment Now Open

The final draft of Wilton’s Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD) is now complete and available for online viewing at www.wilton2029.com

Comments may be posted at this site between now and July 12, 2019.  In accordance with Connecticut law, the Planning and Zoning Commission has referred the draft plan to the Wilton Board of Selectman and the Western Connecticut Council of Governments.  These agencies are provided a 65-day comment period during which time further amendment(s) to the plan may be requested.  Following the conclusion of the comment period, the Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing at which time additional written and verbal commentary will be accepted from the public.  Details concerning the time and place of the July public hearing will be announced in the coming weeks.

The POCD is a guidance document that will provide a long-term vision for the Town and guide decision making relating to growth, development, and conservation over the next ten years. The State of Connecticut requires municipalities to update their POCD every ten years.  As a comprehensive plan, the POCD will look at a range of topics that will influence Wilton over the coming decade, including demographics, housing, land use, community facilities, infrastructure, economic development, open space, recreation, transportation, and sustainability. While it is important to understand data and trends, it is equally important to understand the priorities of the community.

You are encouraged to read this important document and share your thoughts and ideas!
