Will Wilton playgrounds reopen? How about the library? Lynne Vanderslice community update

In last night's COVID community update, First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice reported two new cases among Wilton residents. In addition, she answered some community questions including the status of the Town playgrounds and the reopening of Wilton Library. See her complete update below.

September 9th– The following are highlights from today’s CT DPH report versus the September 8th report:

  • Wilton: 2 new cases.
  • Statewide:  89 new cases. 1.5% of tests performed reported positive.
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 7-net patient increase. Fairfield County, 1-net patient increase.
  • Deaths: Statewide, none.  Fairfield County, none.

Resident Questions:

  • What is the status of playgrounds?   Town and school playgrounds are closed.  The Town of Wilton adheres to the sector rules issued by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development.  Under those rules, shared equipment requires regular cleaning during the hours the equipment is in use.  It isn’t realistic for the town to provide the required frequency and level of cleaning.  Fortunately, Wilton has outdoor alternatives for young children and their parents, including our many trails and open spaces and the Norwalk River.
  • Will the Wilton Library be opening this fall? The Library is owned and operated by the nonprofit Wilton Library Association.  They hope to open this month.
  • Cars are driving too fast on my street.  How do I request traffic enforcement? Please contact Lt. David Hartman at David.Hartman@wiltonct.org to schedule enforcement.
  • How and when are motor vehicle assessments appealed?  Later this month, the Board of Assessments Appeals will hold hearings on motor vehicle assessments.  Look for details at the end of the week.  Real estate assessment appeals are held in March.
