New Vaccine Information for Residents 65 and Up and VAMS Tutorial

Later today, the Governor is expected to announce residents aged 65 and up will become eligible for the vaccine beginning February 11th.  Vaccines are available through hospitals and other medical locations, local pharmacies, municipal health departments and state sponsored vaccine clinics.  A large number of the providers will be using VAMS, the CDC's Vaccine Administration Management System.

In advance of February 11th, residents can now request enrollment in VAMS here.   Please note the following helpful information:

  • When using VAMS:  Each individual must have a unique email to register. Enter your email in lower case. When asked if you have registered for the vaccine, answer no.  They are actually asking if you have an appointment.
  • Wilton Social Services has prepared a VAMS tutorial.

Any future 65 and up clinics sponsored by the Wilton Health Department and Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will be available through VAMS, not Social Services.

Intimidated by VAMS?  Many large hospitals and health centers, such as Stamford Health, have their own public facing appointment booking system.  Access should become available after the Governor’s announcement.

Vaccination providers in our area can be found through this zip code search.  Enter a zip code or click on the map.  The method for appointment booking is noted in the search results.  Please note, a provider is shown even if there are not available appointments.

Appointments may not be immediately available.  Statewide, clinics are added daily.  Please check back frequently if you need an appointment.

CT DPH has not released when the last two groups within Phase 1B, essential front-line employees and those aged 16 to 64 with increased risk, will be eligible. Nor have they yet released the definition of what qualifies as increased risk.

As additional information be become tonight’s update.
