Proposed Cell Tower Red Balloon Test Tomorrow in Wilton

As part of their application to the Connecticut Siting Council, Verizon is required to perform what is known as a red balloon test.  Typically, a red helium-filled balloon is raised to the height of the tower and photos are taken from various locations in Wilton.

There is currently a worldwide helium shortage.  As an alternative, weather permitting, a Verizon contractor will raise a crane at the site of the proposed tower to the proposed height.  The crane will remain in place between approximately 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8th.

The site is not open to the public. We expect the best view of the crane will be from RT 7 along the Wilton High School Complex.
