Carol Johnson of Fairfield County Bank Speaks to Riverbrook YMCA Camp

 

Carol Johnson, Vice President and Branch Manager of Fairfield County Bank, spoke to the children of the Riverbrook YMCA days before the “Race for Chase” triathlon. Mrs. Johnson educated the triathlon trainees on how banks work and the history of money.

Carol explained to the children how depositing money in the bank can keep their money safe and grow their savings. Through an interactive demonstration, she provided the children with fake money so they could practice depositing and withdrawing money. “I enjoyed educating the children on how banks work and teaching them the value of saving. It was an honor to be asked to participate,” said Carol Johnson.

The Race for Chase Kid’s Triathlon program was created in honor of Chase Kowalski, whose life was taken at Sandy Hook. By age 6, Chase entered his first triathlon and won his age group race. To keep Chase’s love for sports and competitive spirit alive, the Kowalski family created the Race for Chase charity. The program allows children ages 6 to 14 years old to participate and race in a triathlon. Qualified instructors train the kids in an exciting six-week program that allows them to run, bike, and swim. The program is state wide with 14 YMCA’s and over 450 children participating.
