Wilton Library Girls Who Code Instructor

Wilton Library is seeking an energetic instructor to oversee our Girls Who Code ("GWC") Club.

GWC is a national club which was founded to close the gender gap in technology and now includes almost 90,000 girls in all 50 states.  Using a full curriculum provided by the Girls Who Code organization, the instructor will introduce 6th-12th grade girls to the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals, and functions that form the basis for all programming languages.  They will then work in teams to design a computer science impact project that solves real-world problems the girls care about.

Required Qualifications:  The successful candidate must be a computer science student or graduate and/or have on-the-job coding experience.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others is a must.

Schedule:  Part-time, hourly temporary contract position.  The club will begin in October and be held two Sundays a month through the end of April.  Class times are from 1-3 p.m., but additional prep time should be factored in.
