Wilton Residents Invited To Enter Gingerbread House Contest

How Sweet it is in Wilton – Gingerbread House Contest

The Wilton Library, in partnership with the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, invite families, individuals, and groups to create edible models of Wilton houses or buildings for the first ever “How Sweet it is in Wilton” contest!  From December 2, 2018 through January 2, 2019, library visitors can vote for their favorite models and winning submissions will be awarded gift certificates from the Chamber of Commerce.  Votes will be counted and winners will be announced on Dec. 19 at 4 pm.

Construction

  • Create an edible model of a Wilton building or house
  • All ages are welcome to participate.  There will be two age categories for the competition: Child (12 & under), and Adult (13 & over)
  • Each entrant (solo or group) is only allowed to submit one entry
  • Maximum footprint of base cannot exceed 20" x 20"
  • All designs must be completely edible except for base 
  • Please use only non-perishable food for display

Drop off and Removal

  • Completed entries must be delivered to the Wilton Library on Sunday, December 2 between 1:00 - 4:30 pm or Monday, December 3, between 10:00 am - 7:30 pm
  • You must fill out the entry form and deliver the form and entry to the Reference Desk
  • Please pick up your entry on January 3, 2019, between 10:00 am and 7:30 pm

Voting and Prizes

  • Entries will be judged in both age groups by prominent community members
  • Judges will choose winners from three categories:
    1. Best historical Wilton house
    2. Best creative Wilton building
    3. Best whimsical design
  • Community members are invited to vote for a community favorite
  • Voting for community members will open on Tuesday, December 4th and close on Tuesday, December 18th
  • The prize in each category will be a $25 Chamber of Commerce gift certificate, which may be used at any merchant member of the Chamber.
  • Winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 19 at 4:00 pm.

  • Fondant
  • Marzipan
  • Pretzels
  • Dried fruit
  • Coconut
