Battle of the Chefs returns to Founders Hall on Sunday, May 17, 4 – 7pm.
In a culinary showdown similar to those featured on television shows such as Top Chef and Chopped, three seasoned chefs will match sharp knives and quick wits for the benefit of Founders Hall.
Chefs Silvia Bianco of chefsilvia.com and formerly of Biscotti’s, Bernard Bouissou of Bernard’s, and Prasad Chirnomula of Thali Restaurants in Ridgefield, New Canaan and New Haven, will compete to create an entree from a basket of surprise ingredients in front of a live audience. Renowned food critic and writer Jane Stern, wine and cheese connoisseur Monica Brown of No. 109 Cheese and Yale Director of Culinary Excellence Ron DeSantis will judge the chefs on their creativity, craftsmanship and culinary results.
Host Amy Kundrat, executive editor of the award-winning regional food blog CTbites, as well as its founder Stephanie Webster, will provide color commentary.
Culinary enthusiasts are being called to savor and judge appetizers created by the three master chefs. They may mingle with the chefs before and after the entrée competition. Guests will be able to get close to the action during the entrée competition. Delicious hors d'oeuvres will be served throughout the event and there will be an open bar. To indulge their taste buds, guest may buy either a seat at a tasting table (a limited number will be available) or the winning raffle ticket for the open slot on the judges panel. This culinary afternoon will culminate, as all good meals should, in signature desserts from all three chefs.
Last year’s Battle of the Chefs raised more than $30,000 for Founders Hall, a donor-supported education and recreation center for people age 60 and older located at 193 Danbury Road, Ridgefield. Your ticket purchase, $100 for general viewing or $500 for a seat at the tasting table, will once again support life-long learning, fitness and fun for more than 3,300 people.
