Wilton Dentist Celebrates 25 Years!

On May 20, 2019 James T. Aris, DMD, MAGD, PC, will celebrate twenty-five years in dental practice in Wilton, CT.

Inspired by his love of the sciences and arts, Dr. Aris knew early on that he wanted to pursue dentistry as a profession.  Since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, he has logged over 2,000 hours of continuing education.  Aris’ extraordinary commitment to education allows him to perform sophisticated procedures including full-mouth reconstructions, root canals, implants and bone grafts.  Aris is among the top one percent of general dentists in this country who has earned a Mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry, and has recently launched a continuing education school for dentists, which is PACE accredited by the Academy of General Dentistry.

What have been some of the changes over the past 25-years?  “Innovation and research in dental medicine is enhanced every day, making dentistry less invasive and more comfortable for the patient.  For example, the merging of computer technology with healthcare has had a tremendous impact on the practice of dentistry.  Our recently added Planmeca dental chairs are software-driven with CAD/CAM technology built into the chair.  CAD/CAM technology with  3-D digital scanners have revolutionized restorative dentistry, paving the way for the one-day crown – and creating a better fit, form and function.”  Dr. Aris continues, “Today, digital x-rays and a paperless office are the norm.”

“We are 25-years young,” smiles Dr. Aris. “I can honestly say I love to come to work every day because of the patients I’m blessed to serve and our professional team of extraordinary hygienists, certified dental assistants, front-office business team, a Periodontist on Mondays, and Associate Dr. Viviane T. Trinh, a UCONN graduate who is here Tuesday evenings and Fridays,” credits Dr. Aris. “Twenty-five years ago, I was fortunate to have Dr. Joseph J. Makovich entrust his patients to my care.  Dr. Makovich spent 6 months in the reception room introducing every patient to me, because he was an extraordinary person and dentist.”  After serving enlisted in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Makovich obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biology and then attended Tufts School of Dental Medicine.  He returned to the Navy as a dental officer with the U.S. Marine Corps for three years before starting his own Wilton practice in 1957, taking over the practice of Dr. Kevin Hargadon.  “I can hardly wait for what the next 25-years holds in store for dentistry. I love being a part of this vibrant community,” says Dr. Aris.  Passionate about dental health, Aris exclaims, “Your mouth really is a window to your overall health, and we are gratified to help people live healthier lives.”

Dr. Aris is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, CT State Dental Society, Spear Study Club, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a Dawson Dentist Scholar, and past President of the Greater Norwalk Dental Society.  He is listed in “The Leading Physicians of the World,” a yearly publication that features top international healthcare professionals, where it is written that, “excellence in dentistry is the first commitment of Dr. James T. Aris and his professional staff.”  Working with children to adults, Dr. Aris’ practice Advanced Dentistry of Wilton is located at The Cannon House, 436 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT  06897.  (203) 762-5100 open Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended evening hours on Tuesday until 8 p.m.
