Wilton Boys 7/8 Travel Basketball Teams Takes Stamford in Thrilling Comeback

Wilton 7/8 Boys Travel Basketball - Wilton 55 and Stamford 51

The Wilton7/8 Grade Boys basketball team fell behind by ten points early to Stamford White before storming back for a thrilling 55-51 come from behind win. Early foul trouble proved a downfall for the warriors early as they trailed throughout most of the game.

The fourth-quarter comeback was keyed by the defense led by Luke DiRocco’s 7 steals, along with Peter Reyes, Liam Snyder, Mason Andrews and  Tucker Farrell.

The offense got going behind the 3 point shooting of  Luke Umphred (15 points) and Tucker Farrell (14 points along with a team high 7 rebounds). Other key scorers were Emmett Kane (7 points), Will Fischer (5 points), Cael Dexter (5 points0 and Peter Reyes (7 points and 5 rebounds.

Down 1 with a minute left, DiRocco stole the ball and hit Farrell for an easy 2 points and the lead. Stamford’s inbounds pass was once again stolen by DiRocco who hit Reyes for the insurance basket to seal the win.


Wilton 7/8 Grade Boys Travel Basketball - Wilton 27 and Greenwich Select 52

The Wilton 7/8 Grade Boys basketball team fell to very large and talented Greenwich Select team 52-27. The Warriors, drained from the previous nights come back win, fell behind early and could not get things going to mount another comeback.

Tucker Farrell lead the scoring with 6 points, while Luke DiRocco,  Justin Kammerman, and Emmett Kane each contributed 4 points. Luke Umphred, Kammerman and DiRocco led the defense with 3 steals apiece while DiRocco and Umphred also added 5 rebounds.
